#StaySafeMyanmar: Keeping you connected is what matters most

There are many heroes as this story unfolds. From those providing testing and treatment to patients, those who keep public and private spaces tidy and clean, to those who help ensure that food, water and supplies reach people as communities are locking down — to each and every one who takes precautions to avoid contracting or spreading the virus. We’re in this together, and we need to all contribute to staying safe.

As interim CEO of Telenor Myanmar, however, the heroes I am constantly thinking about these days are those who keep our connectivity running: Our colleagues who work tirelessly to ensure our networks operate optimally, who keep energy backups fueled and ready to go, who answer calls and queries from our customers, and all of the thousands of people who keep retail shops and distribution points open.

In a cash-based economy like Myanmar where most people top up their prepaid cards almost every day, being able to recharge is crucial. We will strive to stay open, while taking precautions to keep our customers and our staff safe. We will promote longer validity of data packs and encourage you to use our MyTelenor app and other digital interfaces to service your subscription. We are also taking help from our friends at WaveMoney and other financial services to make it easier.

Staying safe in these critical times, we need to stay apart. At Telenor Myanmar we have been responding to the evolving COVID-19 situation by working from home, practicing social distancing and taking strict measures on hygiene. This can be done efficiently in an office environment, and we have powerful virtual collaboration tools at our disposal to manage operations from a distance.

Our thoughts and our continued attention right now go out to our many team members who continue working in the field to keep all of us connected. It is a tough job in normal circumstances. It is an even tougher job in the current situation.

Each of us have a part to play in limiting the virus, for our loved ones and for our community. #StaySafeMyanmar
